A Home Inspector’s Tips for a Speedier Inspection In order to be prepared for a home inspection, a home owner can do several quick tasks to assure the inspection will progress efficiently. The following are recommended:
· Dishwashers should be empty
· Stove Tops and Ovens should be cleared
· Sinks and Bathtubs should be empty
· Bathroom Floors should be dry
· Attic Hatches should be cleared and ladder space provided
· Crawlspace Hatches should be cleared and an area in the attic or crawl space should be cleared to allow entry
· Boiler or Furnace and Water Heater should have access space
· Electrical Panels should be easily accessible
· Garage Door Remote Controls should be handy
· Keys for locked rooms, sheds, boiler rooms, electrical panels, etc should be available
· Boxes and Furnishings should be moved away from walls
· Dogs and Cats should be contained or removed from the home
· Children should be away from the home – we love them too but they can add hours to an inspection
